Barlow Reid design is a Toronto-based residential design studio founded by principal designer Jennifer Reid in 2005. As a full-service firm, we take pride in the eclectic projects in our unique portfolio. We have garnered a reputation for creating beautifully balanced spaces for our clients, blending both style and function while adding a sense of individuality and whimsy to our designs.
We take the time to tap into the essence of who are clients are and what they need. Our seamless design process gives you a sense of peace knowing that you don’t have to worry about the little details – Barlow Reid’s got them covered. Jennifer Reid, the company’s founder, and principal designer is a monthly regular on Cityline with Tracey Moore, sharing tips, insights, and the latest trends in design.

JENNIFER REID
PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
Interior design is not Jennifer’s first career but it is her passion. Having worked as a reporter and anchor for many years, Jennifer understands the importance of story-telling and knows that your home should tell your story.
Since opening the doors to Barlow Reid Design in 2005, Jennifer’s been creating modern yet approachable spaces that allow her clients to experience livable luxury. As a mother of 4 and wife to her contractor hubby Chad, she knows first-hand the importance of having a functional and efficient home. Together they’ve renovated and designed numerous houses, learning from each project, she now brings that invaluable experience to you. That’s why she’s inspired to create spaces that work for each of her clients by digging deep into their passions, values and what drives them. From there she designs a plan to transform their house into a home.
Family is Jennifer’s greatest value and it’s something she brings into each project she touches. She is privileged to do what she does everyday and is grateful for her clients trusting her with their biggest asset.
ASHLEY
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Growing up in a home with Architectural Digests piled high on the coffee table and in a family that loves the arts, it is no wonder Ashley has joined the Barlow Reid Design team.
Ashley attended accredited fine arts schools as a young student, and continued her love for the arts earning a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts from York University. With a love for dance, musical theatre, and the ballet, she prefers clean lines and organised spaces, “a place for everything and everything in its place” is her favourite quote.
Ashley’s favourite tv show is obviously The Home Edit, where she can watch hours of home organisation tricks and exciting room reveals! Who doesn’t love a pristine organised pantry lined with colour coded treat bins?
Ashley and her husband are raising their two young boys in Toronto, where hockey and tennis take up most of their offtime. As a busy mom of two, Ashley understands how important it is for your living space to be safe and a peaceful respite. But at the end of the day it should always feel like home. As Frank Gehry said, “Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness”, and Ashley believes the same for interior design.
ALEAH
JUNIOR DESIGNER
Aleah is our Junior Designer at Barlow Reid. She grew up in the Bahamas where she pursued an Associate’s Degree in Visual Arts. She then followed her passion for design to Toronto to further her post secondary education, graduating from Humber College with a Bachelor’s Degree of Interior Design.
Aleah utilizes her design background in creating project boards and detailed artistic renderings at the firm. A strong advocate of introducing bold beautiful colors into a space, her colour palette is often inspired by and reminiscent of the tropical environment she grew up in. With an aesthetic that is both wistful and energetic, she also creates sparks of visual interest by exploring scale and form in her design.
Some of her favorite personal activities include watching all things acrobatic related and creating with her hands with activities such as baking, making pottery, and undertaking oh so many DIY projects. Owing to an adventurous spirit, she also enjoys expanding her palate by trying new foods, flavors, and cuisine – though her heart will forever belong to pizza (and before you ask, she is a firm believer that Pineapple does NOT belong on pizza!)
Beyond her love for art, culture, and creation, Aleah most values spending time with friends and family and believes that those relationships are truly what life is about. “Treat others the way you would want to be treated” is the moral code she lives by and hopes to inspire in others. Her goal is to create beautiful and functional homes that you and your family can make many memories in, but it is her passion for design and the importance she places on those relationships that truly drive her. She is thrilled to be a member of the excellent team of creative minds at Barlow Reid Design.
CINDY
BOOKKEEPER
Cindy enjoys the simple life, her utmost joy in life is watching her three children achieve personal and academic success. Living in Mississauga the majority of her life has brought a sense of belonging to her family and devotion to her surroundings and community. Being an active volunteer within the community is grounding and brings a rewarding value.
Throughout her years she has dabbled in many career choices, but her love of numbers and spreadsheets outweighed them all. With a knowledge in accounting along with payroll aspects, she has favoured her love of finance.
Cooking for friends and family tops her list of favourite things. Introducing new recipes to her husband and children is a weekly occurrence. Her love for anything HOME is what brought her to the BR Team, by combining her profession and admiration for design, makes this a fulfilling role.
